 European Christmas Traditions

The idea of European Christmas is diversified. While Christmas in Spain sees to it that Christmas is celebrated and felt in every aspect, other European countries get by with just a thing or two to experience it. In Germany, Christmas markets are everywhere. It is a German tradition that dates back in centuries. And almost every town, if not everyone in Germany has its own unique Christmas market. One town may have the biggest Christmas tree and another having the biggest candle, and so on. German Christmas markets only last for a few days, but most of it starts in late November until Christmas Eve. These Christmas markets can be thoroughly explored in the cities of Berlin, Dresden, Frankfurt and Munich as they draw countless visitors yearly.

On Italy, the central date for gift giving is on the 12th day of Christmas, or January 6. Christmas period in Italy is celebrated on December 24 through January 6. The 12th day of Christmas is the time when the three Kings gave gifts to Jesus, therefore it is also the same day that local folks exchange their gifts. The tradition of Epiphany and La Befana (“the tale of a white-haired witch known as La Befana who arrives on her broomstick during the night of January 5 and fills the stockings with toys and sweets for the good children and lumps of coal for the bad ones.”) are a big part of Italian Christmas celebration.

Christmas in France is typical much like in most countries, and manifested by family reunions, giving gifts and charities, and observing the Midnight mass. The la Messe de Minuit on Christmas Eve is an important part of Christmas for many families. A huge feast following the mass is called le Réveillon, which depicts the significance of the birth of Christ. It is the best time to have a really good food indulgence at home or in a café or restaurant. Traditional menus in France include the turkey, goose, chicken, capon, and the boudin blanc (white pudding).

European countries have different ways of celebrating the Christmas holidays, and the customs and traditions along with it are distinctive from each other, yet captivating. But one factor never leaves the way, and that is the value of giving gifts and sharing the spirit of Christmas with family, friends and loved ones who are all bonded together for the Christmas season.

 Some Ways to Tour Europe

Some Ways to Tour EuropeEurope has been renowned of having great panoramic sceneries which are worthy to visit; there is no reason why all year round Europe has been rushed with tourists coming from all over the country. If you are one of those people who are craving to tour Europe in less and luxurious way here are some tips or ways you can follow.

• Tour Europe in its shoulder period. Mostly, the cheapest time to visit Europe is during its winter season. However, if you were living in the cold country aside from Europe, the best time to go there is during its spring season or during fall. This would be the best time to go there since the hotels offer cheap rates only and there are only few tourists which will never give you any hassles.

• Before touring Europe research is badly needed. It would be wise enough for you to have a research before touring Europe. You research first what are the cheap flights and hotels in Europe where you can stay. You can browse the internet or browse some books and magazines as your reference and guides in looking for the best, cheap and affordable hotels and airlines for you. Check all the airlines you have preferred and make sure that you know the different departure and return dates. It is ideal to travel during midweek since it cuts costs.

• When touring don’t bring a lot of things with you. When traveling not only in Europe, light pack is advice for you. Most of the travelers when over packing pay more instead of paying less. Since most of the airlines take extra charge if you have too much luggage with you. Plus packing a lot can be a bad hindrance in moving once places to another, so better bring stuffs that you only needed in your travel.

• Regarding your money, use the exact credit card you have. Credit cards nowadays mostly ask for extra charge of about 2% or 1% when paying. Due to this, check in the card issuers to see which of the card charges the least, and after that use that card when buying some stuffs or goods. However, bring also some extra credit card with you for emergency situation.

• If you are a wise traveler, you can assure that you will have a worthy and reminiscing tour ever in your life.
